Are You an Illuminator or a Diminisher? (Credit: How to Know a Person, by David Brooks).
Do people feel bigger, deeper, respected, and lit up after interacting with you?
Or do they feel smaller, overlooked, and drained?
Who is the leader that you want to be?
Illuminators have a persistent curiosity about others. They master the craft of truly seeing people—shining the brightness of their care on those around them. They elevate, encourage, and challenge in a way that makes others better.
Diminishers, on the other hand, see people as tools to be used, rather than individuals to be valued. They stereotype, ignore, and focus so much on themselves that others barely register.
